Choo Choo Chicken 츄츄 @ USJ Taipan, Subang Jaya

Choo Choo Chicken 츄츄 @ USJ Taipan, Subang Jaya

Korean Fried Chicken has become a trendy finger food due to increasingly popularity of Korean drama among Malaysian. Other than the famous Four Fingers, it is not hard to find new eateries featuring Korean Fried Chicken.

Choo Choo Chicken originated from Singapore and for sharing their delicious crispy golden Korean fried chicken, few outlets have been opened around Klang Valley to satisfy the taste bud of Korean fried chicken's lovers.

We visited one of the outlets in Subang Jaya. It is located in a rather-quiet street where most of the shops on the same row are not opened at night, but Choo Choo's business does not seem to be affected, there is a long queue outside the shop and we waited for half an hour before seated.

Not too sure if it is still crowded as before, but customers should deserve more comfortable and appropriate waiting area and services (need not to be on par with what are offered by Hai Di Lao in Singapore and Warakuya in Johor Bahru, but at least chairs or proper seatings during peak hours).
Wing and Drumlet (Spicy) RM19.90
Nowadays, the Korean fried chicken has developed into various flavours and Choo Choo Chicken has most of the flavours you may think of, ranging from Spicy, Garlic, Sweet, Soy and Honey Soy. The chicken wings or drumlets are deep fried until golden brownish in colour before being coated with the selected sauce. Get the best taste by eating it while hot, spiciness and crunchiness all in a bite.
Bulgogi (Beef) Spicy Rice Burger  RM11.90
Other than fried chicken, Choo Choo also offers rice and noodles dishes to extend the varieties. Rice Burger is also one of their specialties. Creatively presenting the korean fried rice with bulgogi beef in the form of burger, its new look has successfully attracted customers' curiosity and also increase the appetite.
Wing and Drumlet (Honey Soy) RM19.90
It tastes both sweet and savoury, a flavour which will be loved by kids! The seasoning of honey soy is a very thin coating on the surface of the fried chicken and drumlet, hence it is not very sticky and you wouldn't reluctant to eat it with your bare hands.

Spicy Ramen  RM13.90

Choo Choo Chicken is a eatery specialising in Korean fried chicken and it does not offer full fledged Korean cuisine menu. To cater the Asian's need of having carbohydrate in each meal, Choo Choo Chicken has also developed creative modern Korean dishes, for example the rice burger and provide some noodles main course in its menu. We have ordered the spicy ramen and the kimchi  ramen. Nothing much about the spicy ramen, it is just the ready-made instant spicy ramen that we can bought from the supermarket, with additional pieces of fried chicken added to make it more filling.

Kimchi Ramen  RM13.90
Another noodles main course.

Our experience with Choo Choo Chicken was not bad, save for queuing outside the shop. The fried chicken was nice and the variety of sauce flavours definitely gives the patrons additional option. Oh ya, Choo Choo Chicken is not of self-helped fast food concept (different from Four Fingers), hence you can sit down and make your order to the waiters, the foods will also be served to your table so that the patrons can chit-chat with the friends and family comfortably while waiting for the dishes to be served.

Restaurant Ai Xin 爱心板面 @ SS19, Subang Jaya

Restaurant Ai Xin 爱心板面 @ SS19, Subang Jaya

The pan mee restaurant is again recommended by my friend staying in the vicinity, being a regular customer here. It has a very heart warming name -- Ai Xin (which means "kind-hearted" in mandarin), which is very compatible with the business of the restaurant selling pan mee.

We ordered both the dried and soup versions of pan mee.

It is very rare to have mee hun kueh in klang valley, as pan mee (the flat noodles) is more popular here. Together with the simple combination of ikan bilis, mushroom and sliced pork, the thinly made mee hun kueh did not make me feel queasy to have more.

The dried version pan mee. While mee hun kueh goes well with soup, pan mee seems more suitable to eat it dry with the special made dark sauce. Not overly dry but with some gravy, rendering the pan mee very smooth and soft. The ikan bilis not only enhanced the taste, also add to this bowl another biting texture.

The restaurant is located in a neighbourhood area, so the cost of having a bowl of heartwarming pan mee is not pricey at all.

Yu Kee Bak Kut Teh 有记瓦煲肉骨茶 @ SS14, Subang Jaya

Yu Kee Bak Kut Teh 有记瓦煲肉骨茶 @ SS14, Subang Jaya

Came to this Yu Kee Bak Kut Teh which is recommended by my friend who stays nearby. Judging from the crowd inside the restaurant, it should not be wrong that Yu Kee is quite popular with its bak kut teh.

The menu and price list are printed on the whiteboard on the wall. Other than bak kut teh (at RM12.50 per pax), they also serve pig stomach soup at RM13.00, vinegar pork knuckles, rice wine chicken, pickled vegetables and etc.

The traditional bak kut teh with soup. The soup is not as thick as the Klang version, but very rich with herbal taste. The beancurd skin is not the crispy type as we normally prefer, it is soft and fully absorbed with the soup.

The evolved dried version, the gravy of which is very sticky and super good to pair with rice.

A portion of green to balance the nutrient and to slightly reduce the guilt of having a heavy meaty meal.

The price is slightly of the upper side and I heard that it has been further increased recently. Anyway, the foods here are not bad and definitely worth trying once in a while.

Lleone's Pizzas and Such @ Subang Jaya , PJ

Lleone's Pizzas and Such @ Subang Jaya , PJ

Hanging out with friends around Subang Jaya, and coincidentally found this pizza specialist shop near to the wet market. It is formerly the Wings Cafe. Despite the non-strategic location, I decided to give it a try since I was craving for pizza.

Besides their specialist pizza, they are also selling quite few types of beer and handy beer food. So it is not only suitable for lunch and dinner, but also nice to chill up with friends for high tea and supper.

Stage for living band, ensure the guests to have a entertaining and happening night. Besides, they also accept private function and event to be carried out in the cafe. A good idea to throw a birthday splash here with nice pizza and a birthday song from the live band perhaps.
Banana Milkshakes  RM7.99
Kicks start the meal with some chilling drinks, one of their signature banana milkshakes. Nicely made with the smooth and creamy texture, with the strong flavour of banana. Banana's lover will be sorry to miss this out.
Oreo Milkshakes  RM7.99
Oreo Milkshakes is one of the public lovers, the cream mountain on the top makes it so sinful, yet so tempting.
Coffee Milkshakes  RM7.99
Soursop Frizzie  RM6.99
I like the idea to make it colourful with fruits and nata de coco, by the way, the version with blackcurrent flavoured is more recommended.
3 Tier Iced Chocolate  RM6.99
Vanilla Floats  RM7.99
To promote healthy diet, most of the foods in Lleone are cooked using extra virgin olive oil, secure ladies' slim body and also man's healthy! Time to showcase the drooling foods on the night.
Brushetta  RM9.09
The Brushetta is nicely made by using Garlic, tomato, basil and extra virgin olive oil. The bread is freshly baked and toasted to perfection, so I can get that satisfactory crunch with every bite. Simply comforting.
Croquettes  RM9.09
A handy snack indeed, Croquettes means fried mashed potatoes filled with salami, mozzarella and sprinkled with parsley. The breaded skin is very crunchy, but I am more in love with the melt-in-my-mouth mashed potatoes! Dip in their homemade chilli sauce to enhance the flavour.
Stuffed Zucchini  RM6.49
Tickle your taste buds with their garden fresh zucchini stuffed with smoked mozzarella coated with deep fried breadcrumb. I was surprised by the generous flowing cheese in between the zucchine, makes it so cheesy and flavourful, truly reflects the essential feature of Italian cuisine.
Buffalo Chicken Wings
RM7.14 (1/4 dozen) / RM12.99 (1/2 Doz)
The sauces are infused into their carefully selected Buffalo-sized wings and come with a nice sercing of rich & tangy tomato salsa. This is one of the recommended beer food, very nicely deep fried till golden in colour, the crispiness of the chicken wings is simply undefinable until you have a bite on it too.
Cajun Chicken Wings
RM7.14 (1/4 dozen) / RM12.99 (1/2 Doz)
Another version of deep-fried chicken wings, where the flavour is stronger. The marinade was very well done, let the every inch of the wings flavourful and give a hint of spices.
Lasagna Verdi  RM15.49
Layer of pasta, bolognese, herbs and white sauce
L'leone's Special
RM20.79 (Large) / RM29.49 (X-tra Large)
They have around 20 flavours pizza, you will definitely be spoilt for choice with their range of delicious offerings, inter alia, the L'leone's Special is one of the must try. It is a tasty assortment of Cajun chicken, mushroom, onion, capsicum and salsa.
Dev's Delight
RM20.79 (Large) / RM29.49 (X-tra Large)
Dev's Delight is a classic twist to the traditional pepperoni with capsicum, mushroom, salami, garlic and chili. The crust was not too thin, but sufficiently provides some crunchiness and chewiness.

In short, the choice of beverages (other than variety of beers) are quite limited, and there is room for improvement for the drinks. However, their foods are quite satisfying, I especially like their chicken wings and pizza. Erm, I bet my meal will be ended better with a dessert? Humbly suggest them to add desserts in the menu =)

DRINKS
There are three recommended thirst quenchers to go along with their flavourful new zing.
Coconut Shake  RM9.90
A cooling coconut juice with fresh cream and vanilla. A very refreshing drink indeed, goes well with Malay food, which stimulate your tongue.
Avocado Shake
The buttery avocado blend with chocolate syrup, the greenish colour of the drink makes it look healthy, and it is actually really healthy and help girls to slim down their bodies.
Latte Explosion
The owner claims that this Latte Explosion is definitely not a regular latte. A bit overdose I would say? The Latte Explosion sending off a strong aroma of coffee and natural bitterness cannot even be overwhelmed by the cloud of cream on the top. It is intoxicating!
Nusantara Ice Blended  RM9.90
The only ice blended with fine selection of local coffee in Malaysia served with amazing cue balls that pop in your mouth, expelling sweet vanilla taste that compliments the coffee flavour. I like the strong coffee aroma, coffee lover must have a cup of it!

Foods
Belanga Cafe attempts to fuse the delicious pasta with Belanga's local touch. The new fusion definitely spice up my day.
Spicy Seafood Asiana Pasta
Linguine Asiana Pasta with chili paddy, lemongrass, kaffir lime leaf with mixed seafood in creamy tom yam sauce. Asiana Pasta in rich creamy tom yam paste. The result is hard to describe with words, but a unique experience for any pasta lover.
Al-Fungi Olio Aglio Spaghetti
The charcoal grilled marinated harissa chicken is the focus of this Spaghetti, chicken breast always impress people with it hard and rough texture, this one is surprisingly good, very flavourful, soft and tender. The Olio Aglio Spaghetti is good too with a hint of spiciness.
Homemade Beef Ball Pasta Napolitana
The Homemade Beef Ball Pasta Napolitana is immersed with fresh herbs and light spices; a bright red meal is not necessary to be spicy, the tomato sauce furnishes the spaghetti with some sweet and sour flavours. The meatball is flavourful and soft, suitable for kids I supposed.
Belanga's Signature Dulang
In the new menu, Belanga Cafe has created a mouth watering indulgence known as the sensational Belanga's Signature Dulang for the variety seeker, featuring Chicken with Limau Purut, Udang Percik, Barbeque beef tenderloin with Thai sauce, Acar awak, rice with caramelised shallots and tossed garden salad.
Pan-seared Norwegian Fresh Salmon
The salmon come with pineapple sauce, mashed sweet potatoes and tossed garden green salad. Mashed potato is replaced and localised by mashed sweet potatoes. Sweet potatoes is always the ingredients for kuih muih and desserts, but I found it matches well with western food too, simply love the texture of the homemade mashed sweet potatoes where I can detect some chunks of sweet potatoes.
Marinated Black Pepper Chicken
come with mango lemongrass sauce, shallot parsley rice and cucumber tomato riata
Grilled Lamb
The grilled lamb is served with Thai lemongrass sauce, meclum salad with their homemade salad dressing come with tapioca chips. Non-lamb-lover always be annoyed by the the greasiness and gamey smell of lamb, I would say this one presented by Belanga Cafe is just all right, the rib part is chosen, so it is not greasy at all, the biting texture is good for me! And don't worry about the gamey smell, it is totally avoided by the overwhelming Thai lemongrass sauce.
Charcoal Boiled Beef Tenderloin
Its come with Chinese barbecue sauce, parsley mashed and saute garlic pak choy

Ermmm, did you ever seen Pak Choy appear in a western food? It is a quite surprising me and my friends, an oriental elements to the beef tenderloin.

Overall, I was quite impressed to have such "fine-dining-dish" in a Malay restaurant. Yeah, I didn't expect a Malay restaurant to have such good western foods with good presentation. Belanga Cafe, a Potpourri of Malay Cuisine is all set to thrill its customers this season with new flavours and zing, all under the atmosphere which is modeled towards a typical Malaysian countryside restaurant that boasts a collection of traditional hand-made crafts, and kain songket which reflects a sense of elegance and luxury. Now, the outlet in E,pire Gallery is changing its concept to cater customers who needs a place to have casual high tea or chill out with friends. The Cafe is equipped with Wifi, where you can enjoy your afternoon there with a cup of nice coffee.
