One Shabu Shabu 壹号锅 @ Taman Sentosa, Johor Bharu

One Shabu Shabu 壹号锅 @ Taman Sentosa, Johor Bharu

One Shabu Shabu has always been attracting our attention whenever we have our dinner along the hawker street in Taman Sentosa. It left me a impression as a Taiwan styled steamboat restaurant with the Chinese wordings written on the signature board and its exterior design of many red lanterns.

So, it was a Friday night, which I deserve to enjoy a sumptuous dinner to reward my a-week-long hard work. One Shabu Shabu popped up in my mind and without a second thought, we head to this Steamboat Restaurant for our Friday dinner.
We are pampered with numerous choice of sauce and condiments.
They serve in individual pots and good steamboat definitely started with good soup!We ordered for 2 set meals which each set comes with a personal choice of soup base. We choose shark broth soup and pig stomach soup respectively. Both look very nourish and tonic with the red dates, wolfberry and pork ribs. And as you can seen from the picture, the soup were actually double-boiled and have fully absorbed the essence and sweetness from the ingredients.

Pork Set 特色猪肉养生套餐   RM24.90

Beef Set 特色牛肉养生套餐  RM24.90
The set meal comes with standard ingredients such as scallop, egg, oyster mushroom, crabsticks, prawn, fish balls, Yee Mee and vegetables. The meat rolls are the only ingredient differentiate beef set from pork set. The portion of the set meal was decent and sufficiently filled up our stomach. Even if you are not satisfied with the set meals, there are always many add-ons on the menu beckon to you.

All in all, the price of the set meals is slightly high but the excellent soup base indeed worth for the price. The air-conditioning and comfortable dining environment is another brownie point to encourage us to revisit the restaurant.

LJ Noodles House 老江一品粿条汤 @ Taman Pelangi, JB

LJ Noodles House 老江一品粿条汤 @ Taman Pelangi, JB

It was a night where we were looking for comfort food and warm soupy noodles would be a great choice indeed. We went around Taman Pelangi's area and found LJ Noodles House. It was not crowded at all during our visit, but we still decided to give it a try.

The red colour billboard in front of the shop is the signature of LJ Noodles House. Until recently, we just got to know that LJ has few other branches in Johor Bahru, i.e. Taman Ungku Tun Aminah, Taman Impian Emas and Mount Austin.
Mee Sua Soup 面线汤  RM9
Mee Sua Soup is for my girl, a mee sua lover. She said this is excellently cooked, with the springy texture of the noodles remains. Rinse the mee sua to remove the salty flavour of the mee sua and mingle it with the soup base with full of sweetness.
Mee Bok Dry 干捞面  RM9
For me, I prefer the dry version mee bok. The mee bok is topped with the fried shallot and lard, mix it well with the soy sauce before tucking in. The ingredients in the soup are very generous and abundant, including fish maw, abalone slices, fresh fish slices, fish balls and minced meat. This explains why the soup tastes heavenly good!
