The Zon Duty Free has its outlet at Stulang Laut, Johor Bahru. Although the range of duty free items is not wide compared to other famous duty free spots like Pulau Langkawi and Labuan, The Zon Stulang Laut still serves as a paradise for world renowned duty free liquor, tobacco and a vast array of international brands of chocolates, perfume and cosmetics. 

The Zon Duty Free in Stulang Laut comes with hotel, pub and restaurant. Having the advantage of locating within The Zon Duty Free, Tai Son Seafood able to offer alcoholic drinks at lower price. Other than the cheaper beers, Tai Son is also famous with its seafood cuisine.  

The restaurant is divided into two parts, the indoor is comfortably equipped with air-conditioner and suitable for a decent family dinner while outdoor seats enable diners to enjoy the breeze.

Tai Son Special Mee Hoon (Seafood)

Johor Bahru is famous with the "Sanlou-styled" fried mee hoon, which can also be found here with additional ingredients. "Sanlou-styled" fried mee hoon is first stir-fried and slightly pan-fried subsequently, rendering the outer side crispy and extremely fragrant.

Kam Heong Lala

Kam Heong Lala is best to go with beer, especially with this cooking method, which is indeed savoury!

Chicken Wings

This is another recommended beer food. The marinade is great, coated with a layer of honey.

Hong Kong Style Steamed Tilapia

The fish is fresh and hence it is more than appropriate to be steamed just with soy sauce and ginger, successfully retain its freshness and sweetness.

If you are seafood lover, please look at the various seafood they have. I bet you will definitely be pleasant seeing all the fresh and live seafoods!

FatBoy's The Burger Bar @ Taman Sutera Utama, Johor Bahru

FatBoy's The Burger Bar is originated from Singapore, first established along Upper Thomson Road, aiming to whoop up authentic homemade burgers to the hungry folks in the area. I have visited FatBoy's The Burger Bar in Singapore and definitely surprised when we saw their branch in Taman Sutera Utama, Johor Bahru end of last year. 

Other than the Specialty Burger, Fat Boy is more famous with its Burger Bar menu where diners can build their own burgers anyhow and anyway they want it. We can choose from a list of buns, patties, cheeses, add-ons and sauces where our burgers will be cooked to order.

Float Root Beer RM7

Ordered a Float Root Beer to go with my meal.

Bangers and Mash  RM19

Its consists of grilled Bratwurst (which is made with pork and seasoned with subtle spices) and Chorizo sausage (Spanish pork sausage, from its slightly red colour, you know it is hot and spicy!) served with caramelised onions, coleslaw and homemade smashed potato.

Mahalo  RM19

It consists of Bacon stuffed pork patty, caramelised onions, grilled pineapple, melted monterey jack cheese and creamy mayo on a sesame seed bun. The pork patty is very tender and juicy, I definitely like to match it with grilled pineapple, which tastes a bit Hawaiian, the sweetness and sourness very much open up my appetite. Burgers always have a very good partner, named as french fries, which has no exception here. I like their fries too, especially its appropriate size which rendering the outer to be crunchy but moist and soft in the inside.

Despite the good foods offered by FatBoy's The Burger Bar, I found that their branch in Taman Sutera Utama has closed down during my recent visit in that area, it is definitely a loss to the folks in Johor Bahru. Hence, if you are craving for FatBoy's burger now, the nearest restaurant would be in Singapore.

Abalone and button mushroom soup, served with one slices garlic bread. The soup is smooth and it credited to the well balance between the various wild mushroom and cream.

Cappucino

A glass of iced Cappucino is definitely a good choice during the hot and sunny afternoon.

Fresh Mushroom Chicken

Fresh marinated chicken seared on a hot char-grill served with a fresh mushroom sauce together with fresh vegetables and fried potato wedges.

Pan Seared Fish with Orange Butter Sauce  

This is the signature dish of George & Dragon. A fillet of fish pan seared and dressed with Orange Butter Sauce and served with fresh vegetables and fried potato wedges. The orange butter dressing is interesting and refreshing with the fruity sweetness and fragrance. But the fish is slightly over-cooked, rendering the flesh a little bit dry and hard.
