Antipodean Cafe @ Bangsar, KL

Antipodean Cafe @ Bangsar, KL

Woke up late on Saturday morning is a normal practice. So I decided to bring my two VIP friends form Singapore to find late breakfast in town. Antipodean Cafe which located nearby Bangsar Village is famous with their All Day Breakfast. I decided to give it a try. Reached there after lunch hour, but surprisingly it was still crowded.

Antipodean is a Kiwi/Australian style of cafe serving the best quality coffee (Flatwhites, Picolo's, shortblacks) and food to the hungry and thirsty expatriates of Jakarta. They roast, bake and cook everything we sell!

Antipodean - pronounced "an·tip·o·de·an" (adj)means (1) coming from or relating to Australia or New Zealand (2) Ancient Greek: anti "opposed" pous "foot" opposite points on the globe
The cafe was still crowded although it was already 3pm in the afternoon. The seating  in outdoor or indoor are equally good. I prefer outdoor seat, enjoy the fresh air and showered by the sunshine, while enjoying a cup of nice coffee.
The interior design of Antipodean Cafe. The sharp red colour reflects the western passionate's culture. The business was too good, renders the shop looks packed. Do you notice that most peoples looking to the right side of the shop? Wonder why are they looking to the right?
The answer: ya, this cafe does not provide a menu in book. All the foods and beverages are display on the board on the wall. So everyone has to refer to the wall to place their order. I know it is creative and environmental friendly by saving trees, but still I found little bit inconvenient. How do you think?
The beverage and dessert bar.
The kids' playground. So parents can fully enjoy their meal here.
Cappuccino  RM9
A nice coffee is a must when you make a visit to Antipodean Cafe. I am not sure the coffee beans they used, but I am just addicted to the fragrance of it.
Smoked Salmon, roast vegetable & chickpeas salad  RM25
The smoked salmon was good, fresh and not too salty, by squeezing a little bit lemon on it, enhance the flavour. The cheese mixed well with the roast vegetables too.
All Day Breakfast  RM18
come with toast, pork sausages, baked beans, scrambled egg, grilled tomato's

The breakfast set is quite ordinary. However, this is the place that you can eat "breakfast" all day long whenever you craving for breakfast. Yeah, even you wake up at 3pm in the afternoon, you still can find your brunch here.
Grilled Chicken with tomatoes, green beans & balsamic vinegar  RM18
The chicken is well grilled and smooth, goes excellent with the seasoning of balsamic vinegar. This dish is quite suitable for me to keep fit I think, with a big portion of tomatoes and green beans. A very healthy meal indeed.
Morrocan Beef Kabap with Golden Couscous  RM20
The beef kabap is delicious, very flavourful. But I was not really in favour with the golden couscous, the spices is too excessive for me.
Lemon Merinque Pie
The meal ended with a nice pie from Antipodean. It looks fluffy and it tastes fluffy too, with little fragrance of lemon, wash away the fat accumulated from the heavy meal.

Overall, Antipodean Cafe left me a quite good impression with their good service. The foods are not so pricey too although it is located at Bangsar. Worth for give it a try. However, parking is a big problem during weekends and peak hours. So be wise in choosing time.

I Bought the coupons from Everyday.com with 50% to enjoy the dim sum buffet at Golden Sun Seafood Restaurant. Redeemed my meal on Monday morning, made it a nice start of the week. The location is very strategic, which is very obvious on the roadside.

The interior looking of the restaurant, really big and spacious for functions. The dining tables and chairs are clothed with beige colour covers, make it looks elegant and clean. The air-conditioning restaurant definitely provides a better and more comfortable environment to enjoy my dim sum, especially during summer.

There is a dim sum bar where you have to self-service, if the item you desiring is not on the bar, then you can order from the menu, like siew long bao and chee cheong fun. But it is kinda no feel when I get to know I have to take dim sum myself from the bar. Never mind, take it as some exercises.

So it is time to showcase the signature dim sum from Golden Sun, judge the taste yourself based on the pictures below ok? Since their dim sum is on self-service based, so my readers please judge their dim sum on your naked eyes lar, haha~

Overall, to my personal liking, the egg tarts, steamed bun with salted egg yolk, deep fried yam dumpling, deep fried items were good. Their chee cheong fun and siew long bao were really below the standard, very disappointing.

Uncle Jang Korean Restaurant @ Solaris Mont Kiara, KL

Uncle Jang Korean Restaurant @ Solaris Mont Kiara, KL

Went to Uncle Jang Korean Restaurant after an important mission accomplished, to give ourself a treat and reward. Why choose Uncle Jang? I heard this restaurant for quite some times, but no opportunity yet to give it a try. So we decided to join the happening crowd in Solaris!
The restaurant is located at the upstair of Maybank, which is a very unobvious place. The design of the restaurant is rather simple and not much decorated, perhaps the owner want to bring out the eating atmosphere at a Korean home.

But still, unobvious location+simple design=the restaurant is surprisingly crowded. I am so curious to find it out.
That is the area where customers can sit on the floor and enjoy their meal just like in Korean Drama. The big pan in the centre table is the focus of tonight! We got 7 peoples tonight, they don't allow us to use the cute table.
Before goes for the main course, they served us some side dishes and condiments. The kimchi is good, everyone of us love it! The lettuce, garlic and fermented beancurd sauce is for the main course (maybe you can eat it raw and alone just like that, but will it be weird?)
Mushroom Sari  RM8
The add-on mushroom.
Dak-Galbi (Hot Spicy)  - RM22 (1 person)
The portion above is for two person. They mixed all the ingredients in the big hot pan and stir-fried infront of us. So everyone of us have to wear a red apron provided by the restaurant! The mixed ingredients include cabbage, rice cake, potato and chicken chop. The hot spicy version of Dak-Galbi is extremely HOT! Advice: please get yourself a normal version if you are not so good to eat hot and spicy.
Dak-Galbi (normal)  - RM19 (1 person)
This is the normal version, portion for three! Despite it is also chilies paste added, the spiciness is more acceptable compared to the super hot and spicy one. The manual for ordering is stated out in the menu.

Dak-Galbi order to eat (Step-by-by) :
1) Choose and Order hot spicy or nomal spicy on your taste.
2) Choice and Order your Additional dishes (sari)
3) At first, Enjoy the rice cake and then chicken with vegetables.
4) After finishing 2/3 of your meal order fried rice.

Stir-frying in process. The staff there will do it, so we do no need to do ourselves.
Deng Deng~ It is done!
Samgye-Tang (Chicken Soup with Ginseng)  RM19
The soup was flavorful. The soup had been cooked for hours and all the essence can be found in a bowl of soup. Nice! I found glutinous rice inside the chicken too, a portion of carbohydrate.

All happy face on wall. Photos from satisfying customers!

All in all, despite the not-so-strategic location and the simple decoration, the concept and idea is quite new in Malaysia. It is brought back by the Korean owner to Malaysia, a true and authentic style all way long from Korean.

Taiwan Dami 台湾大米 @ Sri Petaling, KL

Taiwan Dami 台湾大米 @ Sri Petaling, KL

Wandering around Sri Petaling on a weekend noon, looking for good foods around. This Taiwan Dami looks interesting to me, sounds like Taiwan-Japanese fusion indeed, therefore I was curious to find out how they fuse and blend Taiwanese and Japanese foods together.

 Simple and warm feeling

Honey Peach Tea  RM5.90
One of the special drink which can be found at their menu. The peach tea is put in a special "teapot". A mini bowl of honey is served along, so that customer can add in honey to their tea to boost up the peach taste in the drinks.
Japanese Pork Chop + Ramen  RM9.90
The combination is good to combine Japanese Ramen and Taiwanese Pork Chop. However, except for the idea, nothing special to be shared on this bowl of ramen. The pork chop taste so simple and a bit tasteless and I have to dip my pork chop into their Japanese curry gravy.
Japanese Curry + Chicken Chop Rice  RM8.90
Again, another combination of Japanese curry with Taiwanese chicken chop. To me, the chicken chop curry powder was not too spicy as I thought. But with its crispy chicken chop mixed and match perfectly with the Japanese Curry. The Japanese curry was very flavorful as it may contain lot of ingredients and dipped it while still in hot.

Overall, something must be praised out is they perfectly mixed the Taiwanese food with Japanese food, and come out another fusion cuisine, the idea is extremely creative.  But the quality of the food has to be improved.
