Kedai Masakan Itik Taika Huat 八里半大家发鸭肉 @ Skudai, Johor Bahru

Kedai Masakan Itik Taika Huat 八里半大家发鸭肉 @ Skudai, Johor Bahru

Many restaurants under big trees in Johor Bahru are famous and good reputation. The Taika Huat duck restaurant is not an exception. This restaurant is right under a very big tree, I wonder if the tree blesses their good business. It was quite crowded when I paid my visit. And majority is Singaporean, not only dine in, but take away as well the braised ducks for their friends and family. It definitely makes me curious how good the foods.
To have transparency over the food making process, the whole kitchen is just at the front part of the shop. The boss will handle your ordered-duck and dishes personally to maintain and standardize the quality.
Kuey Teow Kia 粿条仔  RM1.50
We ordered two kuey teow kia and a mix platter. The Kuey Teow is very smooth and mingle well with the gravy, but not flavourful enough, it is rather plain in taste.

Braised Duck 卤鸭全席  RM16
The mix platter which comprised braised duck, braised beancurd and eggs. We purposely asked the boss to let us have some "duck tongue" to try. We always saw Hong Kong people enjoy duck tongue so much in dramas, make me feel curious how good it tastes too. Erm, I am not really into it in the end. Out of my expectation, instead of the only duck tongue, they gave us whole duck head, and it is still furry. I just felt cruel to bite on their head.
Beancurd Skin 腐竹 RM4
The beancurd skin is also not too flavourful, it will be better if braised it longer I bet.

Overall, the foods here are not so impressed. The other famous braised duck in Skudai which I posted before is much more better. Sorry but to say this is the place I will not re-visit.
