Farmland Porridge Steamboat 田园粥火锅 @ Taman Century, JB

Being attracted by the price displaying largely outside the restaurant, where else to enjoy a heartwarming steamboat with RM8.90 per person? I love Friday night, which I can have my dinner a bit longer, relaxing and do not need to bother about the next working day. Hence, steamboat is extremely suitable on Friday's night.

We decided to check in this restaurant to see if it is true that they offer steamboat of RM8.90! And YES, we ordered two pax of Set B (exactly RM8.90 per person) with the total cost of RM 17.80.


It consist of shrimp, fish slices, chicken slices, pork ball, fish ball with vegetable, crab stick, beancurd skin, golden mushroom, chinese cabbage, You Mai vegetables, Yee Noodle.

To enhance the flavour of the steamboat, we also ordered our favourite fish maw (small portion) at RM10.00.
 While waiting for the porridge steamboat to boil, you can either opt for the signature cooked food or appetizers in the menu. We chose for century egg, we know it is not so healthy, but it is only once in a while (looking excuses for ourselves =P).

We had pumpkin porridge as our steamboat base, the golden yellow colour is super inviting. With all the ingredients added into the claypot, it has not only warmed my stomach, but also my heart!

J Maison Cafe @ Taman Indahpura, Kulaijaya

J Maison is a hidden gem in the new township in Kulai, at Taman Indahpura. Its modest and simple appearance does not hinder coffee lovers from visiting it. 

We were here for our high tea. Their specialties are coffee and cakes, and for sure, we did not miss them. Other than coffee and pastry, J Maison also offers western foods as main course dishes.
Hot Latte  RM7.90
The well crafted hot latte at reasonable price. The latte-must-have foam is rather thin, but surprisingly the texture is creamy, credited to the well balance between coffee and milk.
Ice Mocha  RM8.90
How about a Ice Mocha in the sunny afternoon? I think would prefer it to be in smoothies' mode next time.
Green Tea Mille Crepe  RM8.90
We actually saw the colourful rainbow cake in the glass display case, but we were so obsessed by the Mille Crepe. Mille Crepe is an invention from France, but it is mingled with a sense of Japanese in J Maison by combining Green Tea flavoured crepes with red beans in between.

There are few famous spot for seafood in Johor Bahru, Restaurant Todak is one of them, located at Telok Jawa, Masai. Similar to other seafood villages, Restaurant Todak situated above the sea, overseeing Sembawang, Singapore.  

The seafood restaurant open for business from 11.30am to 11.30pm daily. Although lunch is available, the crowd normally comes during dinner time.

Big Crab 大螃蟹  RM198 @ RM9/100g
There are few cooking methods available for having crabs at Todak, for example black pepper, salted egg, kam heong and the popular chilies crabs are not excepted too. We ordered the chilies crab, with its thick and savour gravy to go with the deep-fried bun.

The crabs are very fresh and meaty, rendering every single bite is a perfect sense of satisfaction. The chilies gravy is slightly blend with tomato sauce, combining the taste of sweet, sour and little spicy. Thickening it with smooth egg white, the gravy can go with either white rice or bun perfectly.

It is rather "standard" and common to have the fluffy bun with chilies crab gravy, absorbing every single drop of essence from the chilies crab. 
Grouper 石斑 RM95 @ RM10/100g
We ordered the grouper with teohew style steaming method. The teochew style is very appropriate, various ingredients (like beancurd, salted vegetables, mushroom and tomatoes) are added to enhance the taste, but do not take away the freshness and sweetness of the fish at all.
Claypot Beancurd   砂煲豆腐
The beancurd in claypot is a dish that is suitable for all ages. The claypot beancurd comes with generous ingredients, from vegetables to seafoods, making it tastes wonderful.
Mantis Shrimp 虾婆  RM18 @ RM8/100g
Another shell fish on dining table. The giant mantis is cooked with salted eggs, extremely flavourful and savoury.
